Jahnavi Chetty

Taura Awhi (Awhi Intern)

Jahnavi is a determined young professional who is interested in the role government relations plays in change-making and bringing to light interests of different community groups and organisations.

Currently, she is in her final year of a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Politics and International Relations) at the University of Auckland. Her passions lie in educating the wider community about their rights and obligations under the law and bridging the access to justice gap.

Outside of her studies, Jahnavi is Co-Manager of the Equal Justice Project’s Access Team. This role involves facilitating presentations on important social justice issues to rangatahi across Tāmaki Makaurau. She is also a student representative on The Law Association of New Zealand’s NextGen Committee, which provides support to young legal professionals.

With a strong interest in cultural interconnectedness, last year Jahnavi participated in an overseas exchange in the UK, where she studied Law, and a Global Sustainable Development Programme in Thailand. Applying these different cultural experiences to her mahi in Aotearoa, her aim is to promote the value of integrating diverse perspectives in legal and political spaces.
