Stella Blackwood

Stella is enthusiastic and proactive advocate for clients, with a strong interest in parliamentary procedure, public policy, and legal foundations. As a final year Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts (Māori Studies and Politics) student at the University of Auckland, she has extensive experience in legal and political research along with governmental procedure and engagement.

Stella has interned at the Treasury, the Ministry of Social Development, Auckland Council, and a large commercial law firm, where she has worked understanding Māori Crown Relations, fiscal and economic policy implementation, equitable advocacy, and corporate law. Alongside these experiences, Stella was the first Executive Intern in Awhi’s Lobbying Intern Programme.

Stella believes in the importance of political education and community collaboration, having previously served as President of the Student Volunteer Army UoA, a volunteering initiative in over 300 high schools around Aotearoa. She is currently a third-year executive member in Women in Law UoA and serves on the Mana Wāhine subcommittee at the University.
