Li Mei Casey

Currently studying a Masters of Public Policy, Li Mei is focused on the power of advocacy and policy to create positive systemic change. She prioritises building whanaungatanga with the people she meets, seeking to emphasise the "relations" part of government relations.

Inspired by her experience studying at the National University of Singapore during her undergraduate degree (a Bachelor of Arts majoring in psychology and sociology), working on an international scale is a future goal of hers. Li Mei's exchange sparked her interest in politics through learning about the different political and cultural contexts of the Asia region. Outside work Li Mei enjoys singing in the Auckland Youth Choir (AYC) and is serving her second year as an elected committee member. Seeing the opportunities AYC provides for members to develop their confidence, friendships and musical skills is what keeps her coming back every week.
